2011-12-22, Week 1, Weekly Progress Photos: Third Time’s the Charm!
When I decided, ages ago, that I wanted to do this series of photos, I went to Academy Sports and bought four red shirts and four black pair of shorts. The were in sizes XL – Med. A little while ago when I put on the XL shirt. It didn’t fit.
Saying that “It didn’t fit” is like saying “The Mona Lisa is a famous painting.”
I mean it didn’t fit in a REALLY DEPRESSING OH HELL NO! I’M NOT TAKING A PHOTO IN THAT kind of way! OMG. Yes, I got the shirt onto me but every roll and bulge was more than clearly visible. And while I’m not exactly a shy guy and I really am laying it all out here for the world to see, there are limits.
Note to the weak of stomach… the next comment will be “TMI” for many of you. Skip to the next paragraph if you’d rather not know……You’ve been warned: Not only could I see every curve of me, the shirt was so tight I could see the outlines of my chest hair pressing against the fabric! So I went digging through my closet and found a XXL red shirt. It doesn’t match the rest of the red shirts but so there.
And, about the color red. I like red. I look good in red. So…let’s have no comments from the peanut gallery making Star Trek allusions! For the non Star Trek Fans among us, the guy in the red shirt when they went down to the planet was always the one that was going to get killed, or smashed, or smushed, or eaten, or vaporized by whatever meanie was in that episode. It wasn’t easy being a “Red Shirt.”
And by the way, typing this and making light of my VERY tight and not so flattering shirt has put me in a better mood. Which, if you recall is part of the purpose of this blog…to keep me motivated and on track. Talking about it helps. Maybe the Catholics are on to something with the whole confession thing? Hmmm…
In all seriousness, and I don’t get serious very often…This has GOT to work this time around. I feel awful. I want to be fit again. I will be fit again!
But I digress..
I’m sure that some of you, my dear readers, all two of you who are reading this blog, may have noticed (1) the color change in the “Weekly Progress Photos” and (2) the fact that the numbers and the size of the fella in the photos are both quite a bit larger than the last time I posted a “Progress Photo.” Well 2011 has been the year from hell. But I’m getting back with the program.
Wish me success!
