Random thoughts while having my morning coffee…
Good Morning…
As I’m having my morning coffee, I thought I’d share some random thoughts….
1. My friend Ragen who blogs posted a really good post this morning: Low Hanging Health Fruit. Here is my favorite bit from the post:
There are any number of things that have been shown to improve our health – more sleep, less stress, fruits and vegetables, movement, water, and that’s just a start. We are never going to be able to do all of them all of the time.
2. I’m drinking my coffee out of my Monet “Water Lillies” mug that I got when I was in Chicago for work and had a chance to visit the Art Institute . I really like this mug. I love Monet and the Water Lillies series is one of my favorites. Anyway, just picking it up and looking at it gives me a warm fuzzy
3. Running a low grade fever for day 3. I thought it was a cold but I think it is sinus infection caused by allergies. This year I’ve been sick more than any in my entire life. Ugh.
4. I have this post-it note program that came with my Mac called “Stickies” and I jot things there as they occur to me: Blog post ideas, Zazzle design ideas, Squidoo ideas, shopping list stuff… just “stuff” Here is a few for your morning amusement:
- Why does one side of your nose always seem to clog up more than the other?
- I hate dust
- Housework shouldn’t make you sweat. or get out of breath.
- You know you’re no longer part of the “corporate world” when you have to go actually buy pencils and pens.
5. I’m out of fruits and fresh veggies and a bunch of other stuff. So I need to hit the grocery store today. Hmmm… I wonder if I should wear one of those paper mask thingies? Maybe my fever will be gone by mid-afternoon. I hope so. I’m getting sick of staying home. I don’t actually feel that bad other than the icky factor but I don’t want to give people what I’ve got if it is a cold.
Food so far today:
- Breakfast: coffee, bowl of cereal
Ok, time for cup #2 of the coffee so…

Recap of today… (Thu)
Brief version of today food journal…
I’m tired and about to go to bed so, here’s the run down.
- Breakfast was a bowl of cereal, juice, grapes. (and coffee of course)
- Mid morning snack was Yogurt (non-fat) and some almonds
- Lunch was a slim-fast shake (because I was on a roll on the computer stuff and didn’t want to stop to fix anything) and a glass of V8
- Afternoon snack was the last of the grapes some almonds and some of those baby carrots
- Dinner was a Jenny Craig entree (Salsbury steak with veggie medley) to which I added more veggies: beets and beans.
Tomorrow will have to be a shopping day because I’ve gone though all my fruits that I bought earlier in the week.

My Progress So Far and “Focusing on the Positive”
Setting the stage…
On June 1st, I kicked off a renewed effort to get in shape and loose weight because my body was (and is) literally hurting when I do simple routine things around the house.
And let me tell you friends, neighbors and the two people who are actually reading this blog, that when shaving, showering, and putting on your clothes and shoes makes you grunt and wheeze and get out of breath, then it is time to do something.
Another indicator is all the drivers for your local Domino Pizza joint have your gate code memorized and the counter staff know you by first name when you drop in to get a Pick Up order. *sigh*
We won’t even talk about the weight induced knee injury back in Jan which still bugs me from time to time. *SIGH*
Let’s Hear it for the Boy! / Week in Review
Last Monday I set out my goals for the week. Let’s see how I did:
Weigh in daily
- — Yeppers, I mostly got this one. I missed one day, but the rest I did.

- No diet coke. None. Zip. Nada.

Switch to green tea in the evenings / limit of 3 cups coffee in the AM
- — Yeppers, I did this. I actually bought some lemon and ginseng Lipton Tea bags, intending to brew my own and sweeten it with Stevia, but… the Arizona Diet Ginseng Green Tea jugs were on sale and I grabbed four of them at the same time. I’ve not gone through all the Arizona Tea yet. When I do, then I’ll try my hand at brewing my own tea at home, which will be cheaper than buying it pre-made and I’ll feel better about doing my bit for the planet by not throwing away those big plastic jugs the tea comes in. This is a post with only one purpose. I just had to share this awesome photo which Bobby of Moon Dance Studios took of my lovely pro dance partner, Gretchen Smith and myself at the Oklahoma Dance Rush earlier this year.
And three photos which Bobby took at the Texas Classic in Houston Texas this year. Two of the photos are of my awesome pro, Sarah Berens (from Austin TX) and the third photo shows my lovely dance partner, Donna and I.

Thur & Friday… Good & Bad-ish and writing before coffee.
It is 8am on Saturday… And I haven’t had coffee yet…
It’s brewing. But you should be warned that I am awake at an ungodly hour of the morning and I am pre-caffeine.
Goodness knows what my fingers will end up typing. Jus’ sayin…
I woke up hungry this morning. I haven’t woken up hungry in a long time. So something must be changing in my body. I’ll count that one up as a “good” thing.
Just because I’m still pre-coffee (still brewing… …I can smell it all the way from the kitchen) and in a grumpy mood, I’m going to whine about my sinuses. I thought I was coming down with a cold. I may be but it may also be allergies. I’ve got this awful drainage which is causing me to cough this icky gunk. All clear so far so no infection but it is DISGUSTING!
I’ll be right back. The coffee should be done by now.

There is nothing quite so delicious as that first sip of coffee. It is a signal to the body that the rush is coming. Moving on..
