Waltz Across Texas is this Weekend!

And…Moí will be there! With boots on!

me 544x544I am honored to be part of the staff for Waltz Across Texas this year. I’ll be teaching two workshops and I’m available for private lessons!  And I will be competing in Advanced Line Dance

Waltz Across Texas is part of the American Country Dance Association (ACDA).

The ACDA is second largest of the two major Country Western Dance organizations here in the United States.  It is centered in the South / Southwest / Midwest part of the country and consists of several events spaced throughout the year.

Waltz Across Texas Logo 2016Waltz Across Texas is in Houston, this weekend, Oct 7-9.

It features a dance competition, lots of workshops, vendors selling costumes, and boots and dance shoes, and jewelry and there is LOTS of social dancing!

And it is FUN!  Really really FUN!!  Woot!

There is also a Saturday night show featuring some awesome dance numbers.

I will be teaching TWO Workshops!

Join me for my “Twisty Two Step” Workshop

#36 -- 2008.01 Worlds - ProAm Two StepTime: 5 pm, Oct 7th

Place: at the event hotel

Covers: a fun Two-step pattern.

Other info: You do not need a partner, although you should at least know the basic two-step.

For workshop #2, I will be teaching a line dance called “6-8-12”

Here is the walk-through video of the dance:

  • Line Dancers Having FunThe workshop is at 10 am on Saturday, Oct 8th (at the event hotel)
    ..
  • This line dance is suitable for all levels.
    ..
  • It is a Night Club Two-Step style dance.  Which means that a couples dancer or Pro-Am dancer who wants to practice their Night Club Two-step skills could use this pattern as a “practice” to improve their Night Club Two Step couples dancing!!!!
    ..
  • This dance is the current UCWDC Newcomer Smooth line dance.  So if you’ve been thinking of competing in line dance, here is your chance to learn one of the competition dances!  This dance will be in use through early March of 2017, so you can use it at any of the remaining UCWDC events and at the events early in the year in 2017!
    ..
  • This pattern can be danced to ANY Night Club Two Step song.

Busy-Busy-Busy! A week filled with DANCING!

Just the facts…Uhmmm…the dance!

wood-floor-background-sized for Facebook- dancing shoes keep calmFolks who have read my blog over the years (you know who you are) know that my general theme has been one of rampant goofiness.  Well not today…  I just don’t have the time or strength or energy.

In fact… the past several months have been like that.  I’ve been focused so much on DOING that I haven’t had a lot of time to WRITE about doing.

I will, try… attempt… endeavor… undertake… give it my best shot to rectify that over the coming couple weeks.

Hopefully I’ll be able to bring you up to speed on what’s been happening on the fitness front, the finances front and give you an update as to where I stand on my Journey to Fitness and Health.

STAY TUNED…

But, as you may have noticed, I’ve been doing REALLY good to get 1 post out a week about the most pressing topic: my ongoing Line Dance class.

So, this post is simply what dancing I’ll be doing this week; I hope you can join me.

Tuesday Line Dance Class!

Line Dance Tuesdays with Tony in Fort Worth 4My “Beginner” line dance class on Tuesday is continuing.  I hope you can join me and bring a friend.  Really!  I need more people in the class!  This is summer and as is usual during the summer months, the number of students in the class have dropped off.  I really would like more folks in the class!

But on the bright side, right now, because of its small size, that means you get lots of individual attention!  Woot!

And there is a special price offer this month.  Check out the DanceMakers Website for full details.

Details:  When / Where

  • Every Tuesday at 6pm — Next class is Tue, Aug 9th
    ..
  • DanceMakers of Texas
    — 6201 Sunset Drive, Suite 630 Fort Worth, TX 76116 [Get Directions]
    ..
  • Pay at the door or call ahead to Register: 817-244-8500
    ..
  • Dances range from Ultra-beginner to Improver; all drawn from the hottest line dances on the planet.

The future is looking brighter…

Yes, I’m aware that it ain’t gonna be easy…

lolcat-bright-future-cat-wears-shades…but for the first time in a VERY long time I am optimistic that I will actually get fit, healthy and dance again!  What’s that?  Do I hear the teeming masses asking “But why do feel this way Tony?”  I thought I did…  😀

Brace yourself, you’re about to enter Tony’s brain….  where you’ll see a chain of thought that will mystify and amaze you!

But first because I’m in SUCH a good mood, I’m going to give you the “short version”  — I’m going to tell you the ROOT SOURCE of all this awesome positiveness:

The diabetes medications I’ve been taking for a little over two weeks now are working.

Which means I’m not as hungry all the time.

Which means I’m loosing weight.

Which means I’m feeling better, both physically and psychologically.

I’m moving more.  I have more energy.  This morning, I saw a number on my scale that I’ve NOT seen in a long time… [drumroll please]  … 310 lbs!  Yay me!

One of the most frustrating things over the past couple years has been working to get fitter and healthier and NOT seeing any friggin results!

Who knew that there was this underlying obstacle called “diabetes” which had to be dealt with first BEFORE my hard work would produce?  Well, now I know. Now the meds are doing their job. Now I’m working at getting fit. And best of all… …Now I am seeing results.  Life is good.

About that tour of my brain….  heh he he heh

I updated my Event Calendar / Schedule

Dance CalendarYou can clicky click on SCHEDULE any time up in the menu at the top of my blog from any page in my blog.  Or if you are really not into scrolling you can click this awesome link I put here just because I like you:  SCHEDULE / CALENDAR

I have spent most of today updating my calendar, looking at the events listed on the IAGLCWDC website, the UCWDC site, the ACDA site, and the World  OutGames site, evaluating them, looking at the dates and considering costs, timing, etc.

Toss in a few side trips to AmTrack, to Southwest Airlines, Eurorail and American Airlines, well you kinda get the picture of what I’ve been doing since I got up: day dreaming about competing in dance again!

Well, not really day dreaming, exactly.

Let’s be generous and call it “long range planning” and “goal setting” and “motivational imagery.”

I love that last one… “motivational imagery.”   Sounds cool don’t it?

Goal Setting

2013 Calendar / Event Calendar Updated

Don’t you hate the words “Tentative” and “Possible” and “Probable?”

Kitty dreaming of the Cat Calendar Centerfold ©2011Well unfortunately, at this point in the year, there is no help for it…  *sigh*

I’ve updated my calendar, for now.  Stay tuned for more changes over the coming few days as I line up this year’s schedule.

At any event where I’m attending  I’m ALWAYS available for private coaching and teaching.  In fact, I’ll stand on my head and do back flips to make the schedule work so I can meet you!  Woot!

Uhmmm… don’t literally hold me to that whole stand on the head thing…it is a metaphor.  If I actually tried to do a back flip it would be the end of my dancing career.  Urk.

Anyway, stay tuned as the calendar continues to be updated and detail added.  😀

See ya on the dance floor!
