March Line Classes will feature “Easy Party Dances”
March Line Classes will feature
🎉🎈Easy Party Dances 🎈🎉
There are four “regular” classes in “March” — Feb 28th, Mar 7th, 14th, and 21st.
All this month we will feature very easy “Party Dances” — Line Dances which can be danced to ANY song of that style.
These “Party Dances” match up with couples dance styles, which make them perfect to use in our Friday Night Practice Parties at DanceMakers.
Also they can be used in any social situation where you do not have a dance partner but want to dance. Most of them are all considered “Ultra-Beginner” or “Absolute Beginner” dances. A couple will be Beginner or Low Beginner level.
And because they contain both basic “Line Dance” steps which match up to basic “Couples Dance” steps they make an excellent practice tool for Couples Dancers who want to practice basic footwork.
- Waltz – example: Rita’s Waltz — which we learned in Feb
- Cha Cha – example: Cowboy Cha-Cha – which we will learn tonight, Feb 28th
- Merengue – example: Ah Si, – which we will learn tonight, Feb 28th (probably)
Other dance styles that we’ll definitely cover this month include:
- East Coast
- West Coast
- Foxtrot
- Tango
- Rumba
And, depending on how quickly everyone learns the dances, we might even learn line dances that fit:
- Double Two / Progressive / Triple Two
- Night Club Two
So, this is going to be an exciting month!
Mark your calendars! — March 28th will be a special “Workshop Class” — stay tuned for for details….

Beginning Line Dance Class: Come Learn “Breaking Hearts”
Continuing the “Party Match Up” Series…
One of the things I try very hard to do is to select line dances which match up with a “Couples” dance style.
I choose dances where the choreography of the dance is done to distinct types of music which correspond to the couples dance styles: Cha-Cha, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Rumba, Tango, Night Club Two Step, Polka, Salsa, etc.
Why? Because finding a place to actually DANCE the line dances that you learn in class is HARD! Of course you can always dance in your kitchen or living room or even on the front porch. The neighbors might talk about that “crazy person” down the block, but you could do it.
DanceMakers has two “Practice Parties” each month. In Feb they will be on Feb 10th and Feb 24th, 8pm – 9:30 pm.
Psssssstttt… don’t tell anyone but a line dance does NOT have to be danced to the original song!!!! Shhhh…it is our secret. 🙂
So….to use this week’s dance as an example, when you’re at the Practice Party, and a “Cha Cha” comes on, you can jump out in the middle of the floor and start doing “Breaking Hearts” the dance that we’ll review/learn on Tue. As you dance, use good dance floor etiquette and be aware of the other dancers on the floor so that everyone can enjoy their style of dance, both couples and line.
So, come on out, join the fun, and learn this awesome “Cha-Cha” on Tuesday, Jan 31st at 6pm
- Have fun!
- Meet new people.
- Use this pattern to practice basic Cha-Cha technique and improve your couples dancing.
- Exercise!
- And… HAVE LOTS OF FUN!

NEWSFLASH!!!! Partner/Couples Dancers Discover Benefits of Line Dancing!–Scientists Announce Earth’s Axis is Affected!
SECRETS REVEALED!
Calling All Couples Dancers and Pro-Am Students!
Pssssstttt! I’m going to share a secret with you. Just between you and me. Don’t tell anyone…
I started out as a line dancer.
When I started competing in Pro-Am (where a student competes with their Instructor) and Couples (where two dancers of equal skills compete as a team), the skills I had acquired by line dancing were a significant factor and my secret weapon, through my entire first year as a Newcomer.
Even now, in the Advanced Divisions, and on the social dance floor, being a line dancer gives me an edge when partner dancing! My dance partners may not know “why” they feel a difference, but the difference is there!
Benefits Line Dancing Brings to Couples Dancing
Consider these benefits that line dancing can bring to your Couples and Pro-Am dancing. The basic idea is:
When you line dance, you are doing it all…there is no one else to hang on to and help you out.
Because it is you and only you…you develop and improve your dance skills and then those skills transfer DIRECTLY and IMMEDIATELY to your Pro-Am and Couples Dancing!
- Improved Balance
.. - Improved Frame / Posture
.. - Improved Arm Lines
.. Improved Turns and Spins (Guys… I’m talkin’ to youse!) 😉
..- Improved sense of timing and rhythm
.. - Better memorization skills for choreography
.. - Hate drills? Then why not dance it! I hate drills with a purple passion! But I love to dance. Line dances are a repeating pattern, so each time you repeat the pattern, while dancing to music you get another chance to execute and practice technique every 32 or 48 counts!
.. -
Improved stamina…. Let’s face it, while rehearsing with our Pro or our couples partner is fun, how many times in the studio, do you really get your heart rate up to 60% or more of max.
Then at a competition, you’re all out of breath? Sound Familiar? But when you dance a line dance (as a technique improvement exercise — I *hate* the word drill!) then you are DANCING, burning calories, improving your stamina and cardiovascular health!
But, remember, this is a secret. Just between us… 😉
