It Keeps Getting Better!! Woot! — Books and Songs from the “Rachel Maddow Show”

The Stats and nothing but the Stats… STAT!

How’d you like the pun?   (I crack myself up sometimes)

Anyway, I’ve got a lot on my plate today so I’ll be brief.

I have a big dance event this weekend and I’m teaching downtown at a hotel for a convention and I have to get a haircut and  I have forms to fax for… and I have laundry to do and packing and leaving after the gig and …. aaaaaaaiiiiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

So… Uhmmm.. where was I?  Oh yes, I was saying that I’ll just report the numbers for my article Books and Songs from the “Rachel Maddow Show” without my usual drama and that I would be brief.

Not possible.  Too late.  LOL

Whoz da kitty#5,625 Overall

There are almost 3 MILLION articles on Squidoo.  Mine has gone from a raking of 263, 525 the day after I published it to under 10,00 which puts it in the Tier 2 category.  For it to make real money (as in I can use it to pay bills) rather than (I can use it to buy a pizza) I need it to be BELOW 2,000.  So keep sharing, keep visiting, and keep commenting!  Help a boy out!  😉

#130 in “Books & Poetry”

I broke into the top 200 in a BIG way today!!!!  Before today it wasn’t ranking in the top level category.  Woot!

#83 in “Books & Poetry >> Books”

It was at 99 yesterday!  Woot!

Squidoo has very broad subject categories sorted into sub-categories that go down three levels.  The longer the “category name” the deeper the level.

#19 in “Books & Poetry >> Books >> Reading Lists”

Books and Songs from the Rachel Maddow ShowIt was at 23 yesterday!!!   My article has been in the top 100 in the lowest level, most specific category for several days but TODAY  [drum roll please] It broke into the TOP 20!!!!!  Woot!

So there you have it.

Thanks again to all who have shared.  And if you haven’t shared, please do so.

See ya on the dance floor.

Please visit the page.  (this takes about 10 seconds to let the page load completely)

Please click as many of those “Social Network Share” buttons at the top as you can (this takes about 1-2 minutes)

Please scroll through the article and take the two quizes and the one poll (this will take about 3-4 minutes)

Please leave a comment in the Guestbook at the bottom of the page.  (this will take about 5 minutes)

Why?

Because you’ll help out a struggling writer and dancer avoid going back to the 9-5 corporate grind.  And I’ll love you forever.  I’ll name my next cat after you.  I’ll erect monuments in your honor.  I’ll light incense and candles in your name and chant mantras praising your kindness and generosity.

Ok, ok, I’ll be grateful and you’ll get a warm fuzzy feeling because you helped me out.

And, it really is a cool, well crafted article.  I think so, anyway.

Squidoo has very broad subject categories sorted into sub-categories that go down three levels.  The longer the “category name” the deeper the level.  Until today, my lens (a.k.a. “article”) has only ranked in the Top 100 in the lowest and most narrow/specific category (see below).  TODAY HOWEVER, it showed up in the mid-level category for the first time!  Woot!  Uh-huh!  Uh-huh!  This is BIG DEAL!  (OMG!  I am typing in capital letters.  I should be ashamed.  I have sunk so low…  *sigh*)  OK, OK,  So, sue me LOL  I’m a little EXCITED here!  *grin*

We’re not talkin’ “Daddy Warbucks” yet, but… One can hope, and you can help! –> My Songs and Books From the Rachel Maddow Show is a Chart Rocket!

Books and Music from the Rachel Maddow ShowMy New Article Books and Songs from the Rachel Maddow Show is a “Chart Rocket”!!!!

Ok, folks, something really cool is going on — I have a chance at a real, honest to goodness, money-making article!  Woot!  Yeeeeeeeee haaawwwwwwww!!!!!!

Those who have followed my posts here know that a little over a year ago I lost my job as a librarian.  Since that time I have been trying to switch from “unemployed” to “self-employed” and one of the ways I’ve been doing that is to write online articles over at Squidoo.

They say in the “writing business” that you should write what you are passionate about.  For me that mainly means dance, which unfortunately is NOT just a huge “money making” topic for writing.

BUT…  I do like books as well.  And, I do like the Rachel Maddow Show. And I noticed something interesting the other day when I looked at the “Top 100” lenses at Squidoo….  TWO of the Top 15 “lenses” which is what Squidoo calls “articles” are about BOOKS!  Now there is something that I can write about which I also can be passionate about.

I was a librarian after all.  🙂

So, I created a new lens:  Books and Songs from the “Rachel Maddow Show” (Current Season) and I published it on Friday the 12th in the wee hours of the morning.  Since that time here is how it has ranked: Read the rest of this entry

Reflect, Review, Revise, Revel, Reward, …Really!

Reflect…

Diva Kitty practizin dance ©2012Well, yesterday was a busy dance day.  Practiced with my dance partner for a little over an hour.  Then I went to the West Coast Swing classes taught by the most fabulous Beata Howe and “Pappa Daddy” TRose aka Terry Roseborough.  That was another 3 hours of dancing.  OMG!  Oh, my aching feetsies.  Ouchies!  Oh da pain, da pain.

Ok, ok, maybe I’m being a bit dramatic, (hey being dramatic is what I do…I wouldn’t be “Tony” without the drama!)

…but in all seriousness, I did kinda push things.

So, now I know, at my current fitness level, doing four hours of dancing/learning/practicing is very close to “over doing it.”

The trick is to find exactly the right amount of exercise with which to stress my body.  I may have to alternate “heavy days” like yesterday with “easy days” or “rest days” while I’m still on the bottom end of the “fit” range.

It is true that I’m trying to build up stamina but I’ve also got to not overdo it and injury myself.  It is important to give my body a chance to repair itself and build itself stronger.

That’s how you get fitter; you stretch your limits, rest a bit, then stretch your limits again.  Eventually tasks that were difficult become easier.  Then they become routine and then you have to stretch further to keep on improving.  Woot!

Revel…

Who da man?  Who da Pappa Daddy?  Who is on track on his fitness goals!  Come on, chant with me…  “Go Tony!  Go Tony! Go Tony!”

Doing those little circle things with your hands clenched in a fist is optional, but encouraged.  🙂

Here are the cold hard numbers:

-- 12.2 lbs lost (total so far)
-- 1 lb lost at the official Jenny Craig Weigh-in this week.
-- 5.65 inches lost (total so far) - Hips, Chest, Waist
-- .4 inches lost this past week.

Yay!  2013 is on track!  Woo Hoo!    Here are the charts and the cool fun visual stuff: Read the rest of this entry
