Rejoice and Revel for it has been a good week!

I iz Awesome ©2011Let the reveling and rejoicing begin!  🙂  Uh-huh, uh-huh, uh-huh!  (doing a chair dance and the circle your fists in the air thingie!)

Ok, ok, ’nuff silliness already!  This is serious stuff here!  😉 I’m following my own advice and rejoicing in the little things.  Because those little things eventually add up and “Voila you have met your goal!”

This has been a good week!  And I’ll get to check off some of the things on my “Check List“.  So in no particular order, let’s get on to the recap.

The switch has been flipped…

The gauntlet has been thrown, the tide has turned, the balance has shifted, midnight has past, and the dawn has begun; a lot of what I’ve been doing over the past month, but especially this past week is happening in my brain rather than in the “real” world.

Thinker (CC)In other words: I’ve been “thinking” a lot.  And it hurtz!  Owie!  I needz somebodies to kiss itz and makes itz bettersz. (Preferably some hunky guy in a speedo–Yummy!)  *AHEM*  But I digress…  😉  Back to the topic at hand…

It boils down to this: (1) Being healthy is now my top priority and (2) creating positive momentum is vital to working on that priority.

My health and fitness, or current lack thereof, affects everything in my life.  EVERYTHING.  It seems simple doesn’t it and very rational to make  the thing that affects everything else in your life your top priority?  Sounds good to me!  Sadly, in life, the things that seems conceptually simple are actually incredibly complex and difficult to execute.

Getting Healthy is Complicated… …so do it one step at a time.

Coffee cup with funny caption ©Over the past few months I’ve been overwhelmed.

Everything has seemed like this huge massive mountain with the summit miles above, insurmountable.  And at times I’ve felt that the sides of that mountain were crashing down around me.

My friends will readily say that I never miss an opportunity for drama or a mini-performance.  And, in complete candor, they are mostly right.

However, this time there is no drama, no exaggeration.  I can truthfully say that during this past year there were days where something as simple as getting out of bed, showering, doing laundry, or paying a bill seemed to be a herculean task; it was just too much.

Getting healthy is not an easy thing to do and when you feel as I’ve felt over the past few months, well “not easy” can turn into “impossible.”  At least mentally.  The good news is that things are getting better.  Bit by bit progress is being made.  And for those of you out there who might be feeling the way I did, well, it really does get better and you can do it.   One tiny step at a time.

In a previous post (Getting Healthy is complicated and it takes time… …lots of time! ) I talked about how, when calculating how much time you really have in a week, you will discover that it isn’t as much time as you think.  And after you figure out just how little time you actually have you should feel proud of what you did manage to accomplish in a given week, not upset at what still remains to be done.

And in another post (Start of a New Journey…) I spoke about the importance of getting started, even if it is a tiny start.  We’ll continue now with that chain of thought with a concrete example:

Day one on Jenny Craig… …again!

My breakfast July 16, 2011 ©Okay, dear readers, my last post was bemoaning how difficult it is to get moving again after metaphorically “falling off the wagon”.  To continue that theme, let me tell you how the last couple days have gone for me.

Thursday, I went to the Jenny Craig Center for the first time in almost three weeks.  I work second shift on Mondays, Noon – 9p, so I had been going on Mondays  during my dinner hour for my weekly weigh-in and to get my week’s food for the coming week’s menu.  I’ve missed several weeks though because my work situation though has interfered; we’ve been very very busy at work and I’ve not been able to get away to dinner at a consistent time on Mondays.

Earlier this week, on Tuesday, I called the Jenny Craig Center and compared calendars and discovered that they had a Thursday opening at 6:30p.  Since I get off work at 6p on Thursdays that works great.  And since I have no dance rehearsals or lessons scheduled on Thursdays, that means I can go straight from work, to the Jenny Craig Center and then straight to Whole Foods where I can then shop for other food items I need to complete the menu for the coming week and then straight home to put everything neatly away!  Go Team Tony!  🙂
