Macro, Micro, and Meta-Mucil

There is actually a “Method” behind the madness…

Motivation is what gets you going. Habit is what keeps you going. If you’ve been reading my blog recently you know where I’m coming from:

333-335 lbs at my heaviest,
not healthy in any sense of the term,
and certainly not fit!

But I’ve not really talked very much about where I’m going.

And I’ve not talked very much about how I’m getting there.

Oh, I will…  I definitely will.  Watch for future posts on specific techniques.

For now, so you have some context in which to place this post you are reading, I have to very briefly give you a broad overview of what is going on as I make this journey to Health & Fitness.

Basically, I’m applying organizational skills that I acquired from my former life as a librarian to the task at hand.  Business practices like Gantt charts, procedural assessments, time management techniques, task efficiency studies, task check lists, etc.

The reality “on the ground” is that my life is in a certain state (one which I don’t like).

I strongly desire it to be in a radically different state!  Getting from here to there, Read the rest of this entry

We’ve struck an Iceberg in an ocean of Green Tea…

Ice Dispenser (CC)People are slobs.  I should know because both my roommate and I are both bachelors.  We.  Are.  Guys.  Do the math.

I prefer, however to view the situation at home as “having my priorities in order.”   After all, when the great tally at the end of life is done and folks are standing around with little cups of punch balancing small plates of snacks, I don’t think that “He kept a clean house” will be an epitaph by which I’d care to be remembered.

So, what does this have to do with the tea in China?  Actually it does have to do with tea.  As in the Green Tea that I’ve switched to now that I’ve mostly given up Diet Coke.  I’ve only had two (maybe three?–can’t remember for sure) glasses of Diet Coke over the past 2-3 weeks.  Yay Me!  Go Team Tony!  Uh-huh Uh-huh Uh-huh!

So.. I’ve been working on getting everything in place so  that can drink Green Tea at work instead of Diet Coke:

  • Buy four jugs of Organic Green Unsweetened Tea from Whole Foods —  Check!
  • Take half of my supply of Stevia from home to work.  — Check!
  • Snag a handful of individual packets of lemon juice from QT.  — Check!
  • Feel ever so slightly guilty at snagging the aforementioned lemon juice then getting over it quickly.  — Totally Check!
  • Remember to buy an extra “souvenir” spill proof container from Disney World while I was on vacation to use as my “Tea Glass” for work with lots of fun Disney Characters on it to make me smile when drinking tea.  — Check!
  • Take all those items to work.  — Check!

Awesome!  I so rock!  Woo Hoo!  You *can* tell this is going too easy right?

The Importance of Making Your Bed

My Bed ©2011

One corner of my room…the neat side. The other side would scare you! 🙂

One of the continuing themes that has developed in this blog is that switching from an “unhealthy” lifestyle to a “healthy” lifestyle is very very hard!

And what does “making your bed” have to do with “getting healthy?”  Well to most people there may not be a connection, but for me there is.

Keep reading; all will be revealed.

Prepare yourselves, dear readers, all 7 of you who are reading this blog, because once again, we are about to enter the weird and wonderful world of “Tony’s Brain”….

cue the music please, hang onto the guide rope and if you get lost, well, the monster in the subconscious has to be fed somehow doesn’t he?  heh heh heh…
