What is “Health”?

What? Do I hear grumbling from the masses?  Do I hear the stirrings of an “Occupy the Blog-o-sphere Movement?

Ok, ok, since you insist, I’ll elaborate; you guys should know by now that it doesn’t take much to get me to expand on any topic.  LOL @ myself.  🙂

Let’s “Google” it!

So, what does “health” mean?  I did a Google search for health and got this:

Over a billion hits.  That is “Billion” with a “B!”  — Aha! A chance to use my Librarian skills!  Woo Hoo!

Take note: When doing a keyword search, adding more words in the search box, or the addition of suffixes, means fewer hits.  So, let’s add a “y” and do a search for healthy:

It is from a guy who blogs over at “52 Weeks, 52 Pounds: Weight Loss, fitness, insanity

He is further along on his own journey to living healthy but he started the same way that I’m advocating:  begin by making small changes.  Keep it simple, keep working at it, and one day you’ll discover all those small changes have created a healthy you!  Think of each change as a grain of sand.  Keep adding a single grain of sand at a time and eventually you’ll have an awesome beach!

Right this very minute! 

Why do I suddenly feel like I’m on the set of Mame and everybody is about to break into a round of “We need a little Christmas?”  Hmmm….

But I digress…

I didn’t sleep very well last night at all.  I went to bed on time, 11:30pm and my alarm was set for 6:30am.  (Allow me to insert a momentary aside…after much thought and evaluation of my daily routine and weekly work schedule, I decided that if I wanted to be consistent in when I go to bed and get up, that (1) 7 hours of sleep is the most that I can count on as a consistent routine thing; and (2) I forget what two was.  I need more coffee.)

2011-12-22, Week 1, Weekly Progress Photos: Third Time’s the Charm!

When I decided, ages ago, that I wanted to do this series of photos, I went to Academy Sports and bought four red shirts and four black pair of shorts.  The were in sizes XL – Med.  A little while ago when I put on the XL shirt.  It didn’t fit.

Saying that “It didn’t fit” is like saying “The Mona Lisa is a famous painting.”

2011-12-22, Weekly Stats — Week 2


2011-12-22-Table ©2011This week I had a lot of drama involving my truck which absorbed all my energy.  The good news is:

  • I have a brand new truck!  And I’m loving every bit the “newness” of it!!!!
  • I don’t have to worry about breakdowns any more for 100,000 miles (bought an extended mechanical warranty) which means less stress and improved health.
  • I don’t have to worry about new tires for the next 3 years (bought a tire warranty) which means less stress and improved health.
  • I lost 1 pound from this week (Jenny Craig Weigh-in)
  • Lost .51 % Body Fat
  • Lost inches.
