I did it again! Almost too pooped to type but…

I friggin’ DID IT!  — AGAIN!

exhausted-catYou may recall that yesterday I was all a twitter about having done 45 minutes of exercise — also known as – domestic duties.

Today, mere moments ago,  I DID IT AGAIN!

On my “to do” list (we will NOT discuss just how long it’s been there) is to “sort, shred, and file” as appropriate, years of accumulated paper, old bills, photos from dance events, score sheets from dance events, certificates from dance events, dvds and videos from dance events, more bills, more statements, more…

well you get the idea.

So… facing the inevitable and not finding ANYTHING else to distract me, I proverbially girded my loins (anyone know how to gird? — what is “girding” anyway?) but I digress…

I was ready.  the moment had come to START… just START, finishing will be weeks away, but to START that particular project.

So, I put on a new podcast from my favorite DJ “Mr Andi Mik” and got to work…

I just reached a stopping point, and turned to pause the mix and was SHOCKED!

FABER-gasted!

Flum-FLUXED!

AGOG!

AGHAST (well I wasn’t really Aghast, but since agog and aghast have such a nice alliteration I thought I’d throw that one in just for fun)

Eeeeeeeeeennnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyyyy Way….

I was well and truly AMAZED-ed.

See I ur a colludge grad-u-ut!  I knows some BIG wurds.

So… the timer on the pod cast read 3 minutes left, 58 minutes played.

FIFTY-EIGHT FRIGGIN MINUTES of…

2011-12-29, Weekly Stats — Week 2 (again)

2011-12-29-Ticker ©20112011-12-29-Table ©2011

First things first…  No, you’re not hallucinating, I’m doing “week 2” twice.  Yes, you heard me right.  LOL

I realized that my progress photos were one week off from my weekly stats.  That’s because a full week went by after I had renewed my fitness efforts before I took my first set of progress photos.  So, I’m haveing two “week twos” to keep the week numbers in sync.  No matter how you count it, my stats were basically flat, slow downward trend by very small decrease since I started.  So enjoy my Week TWO Stats!  🙂 Confused yet?

On to the recap:  I don’t know why I’m surprised, especially since I have been doing this huge “song and dance” production number about this here on my blog…  BUT getting moving on the journey toward fitness takes time and effort!

The main thing that went on this week was:

Getting Healthy is complicated… …and it takes sleep, if you can get it.

Cat Pillow Hog (CC)

Continuing with the theme that “loosing weight is complicated because life is complicated” let’s look at another of those wildly interconnected facets of life that affects everything, including efforts to get fit and healthy:  SLEEP

Sleep… OMG!  I would *love* to get a good night’s sleep.  It has been years since I slept well on a regular basis; I routinely wake up tired, exhausted, and feeling as if someone has worked me over with a 2×4.  I can not seem to get a good night’s sleep.

Yet, everything I read, drives home the importance of getting consistent, restful sleep, especially when you’re trying to improve your health and fitness.  Yeh, right.  No pun intended, but dream on!   Fair warning, this post is about to take you through the backroads of my brain and my life so you’d better brace yourself… …it is likely to be a long, strange and bumpy ride.

After reading a lot about getting a good night’s sleep, being me.  I made a list and got to work figuring out what I could do:

  • First thing I learned is that being overweight is a contributing cause of poor sleep!

So, let me get this straight…  To sleep well I need to loose weight.  To loose weight I need to sleep well.   Aaaaaaaarrrrrrrggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!   Can we say “downward spiral”?  Can we say “Catch-22?”  Hmmm???  Makes ya want  to snuggle up to a big bowl of oreo cookes, a gallon of milk and say “to hell with it all”.  Ok, ok, moving on….

Once more dear poundage, “Unto the breach…”

It Lies!

With apologies to Shakespeare, here I am once again charging, or should I say waddling, forward.  It’s been a while since I’ve updated my blog so here is a quick update:

As I went into the UCWDC World Championships of Country Western Dance in Jan 2011, I weighed 238 lbs, a loss of of 37 lbs from my heaviest weight of 275.  Yay me!  I made it through the deadly months of October, November and December with its land mines of savory treats and communal eating.  I made it through the stress of preparing for the World Championships.  I was on track and although I had plateaued, I was at least *not* gaining weight.

I did pretty good at Worlds:  1st place (and a brand new World Championship title) with my dance partner in Couples Diamond III and 2nd overall in Couples Crystal III.  Yay!  I placed 2nd overall in Advanced Male Crystal Line Dance and Advanced Male Diamond Line Dance.  Yay!  I placed 2nd overall in Male Pro-Am Crystal and Diamond and 5th Overall in Open Male Pro-Am.  Not too shabby.

I came back and… Read the rest of this entry

The Week in Review or… “Ya gotta have a bag-o-tricks”

Iz Magic! ©2011For the first trick of the evening:  Being Strong without even trying…

I have to share a “moment” from this week from where I work  I’m surrounded by a group of folks who like to bring in food and leave it on the break room table for everyone.

This is sweet and nice and generous, and it does foster a sense of community at the workplace, HOWEVER, for me those little offerings of friendship are sneak attacks!  They are land mines on the way to a healthy me!  They are evil incarnate!  Basically they kinda suck eggs.
