Babies, Line Dance Workshops and Headed to the Texas Classic

Texas Classic (TM)Only two days and some hours and I’ll be zipping off to the Texas Classic down in Houston.

Yee Haw!

This is going to be a very busy, very fun weekend full of dancing, workshops, competition and working in the video booth!

I’ll be competing in ProAm with my fabulous Pro Dancer, du jour, the wonderful Gretchen Smith, because my usual fabulous coach, the wonderful Natalja Sawal is uhmm… very round at the moment and about to be blessed with a visit from mister stork any day now.

Confessions, Bragging, and Losing Ten Pounds Without Trying

Confessions…

Good Me-Bad Me ©2011Forgive me dear readers for I have sinned.

I have been partaking of the chips (well, not whole bags full, I’ve eaten them as part of lunch with a sandwich)…

… and of the Chocolate Pecan Pie (though only a slice at a time)…

… and of the Jack in the Box (though I have been getting the Chicken Fajita Pita, the healthiest thing on their menu).

Yea though I seek to walk through the valley of the Non-Fat, I have partaken of the Half-n-Half (though only a little bit in each cup of coffee, not a third of the container at a time or anything like that!)…

… and the real cheese, both the sharp cheddar and the Swiss (though only a single slice on each sandwich).

I have strayed into the land of the Sonic (though I got the breakfast burrito with no bacon and two bananas)…

… and, I hang my head in shame dear breaheren and sistertheren,  “S-H-A-M-E! ” I say unto you!  For I have…

Weekly Feature Added, Morning Coffee, and Being Self-Employed

I’m Writing Over at Squidoo.com too!

TxCowboyDancer on Squidoo ©Well, I think I’m finally getting the hang of writing on Squidoo.com.  Whew!  And one of the things I learned is that I can’t post exactly the same article here on my blog and on Squidoo.   So from time to time I’ll post a short blurb here to highlight what I wrote there.

Confused?

I feel your pain.  My Inner Domestic Diva has gone back to bed and is cuddling with her bon-bons.

When you think about it for a couple of moments, though, it makes sense.  Squidoo is a business, they are there to make money to keep things running, pay the staff, and then donate the rest of it to charity so they don’t want duplicate content.  They want the original stuff.  The first run top-notch garbanzo beans.  The primo coffee as it were.     If  I were writing an article for a newspaper or magazine then I’d only be able to publish it in one place. Squidoo has no problem sharing the wealth in the interest of attracting high quality original content.  Which is where I come in.  I write, I attract readers, I get a share of the $$.

Hmmmm..

Which brings me to an interesting point.   I’m having great fun writing this BUT, I’m not doing it just for fun…

Finding Good Triple Two Step Music

Music for “Triple Two Step”

Cowboy Dancing at a club (CC)Finding good music for a particular genre of dance is often very hard to do. In this post, you’ll find some basic information on “Triple Two Step” and some sample videos so you can see it for yourself what the dance looks like.

If you do a Google search you’ll come up with a lot of possibilities and trust me on this, a lot of them are garbage.  Bleech!

So I’ve created a page of some good ones.  What?  Do I sense some skepticism from the teeming masses?  Fear not gentle readers, the songs have been reviewed by my Inner Domestic Diva and they have met with her approval!   You can check out the page at  Triple Two Step Music — Song List

This list of songs is complied from a variety of sources found on the Internet, including ones from my own library and suggestions from the readers of this blog.  You can follow the links on the list to hear previews of the songs and buy your own copy if you like it.  And if you do buy a song or CD, then I get a couple of pennies commission.   Right now I just have the Amazon Links in place.  I’ll have links to iTunes on the list soon.

SAVINGS TIP:  Get the CD.  A lot of the CDs on Amazon are priced under a dollar.  And you get a whole set of songs.  Yes, you have to pay postage, but the cost per song is much lower than downloading one song at a time.

If you have a favorite Triple Two Step Song and it isn’t listed here, don’t be shy!  You can use the comment form down at the bottom of the page to send me a note and I’ll add it to the list.   So what are you waiting for?  Check out the page at Triple Two Step Music — Song List.

Squidoo.com

I’ve posted a much longer article over at Squidoo.com.
Hop on over there if you want to learn more about the dance style called Triple Two Step, and it’s related family of dances.

Songs for Triple Two Step

The Triple Two Song List is just the first of many.  I plan on adding lists for the other country dance genres:

  • Polka,
  • Night Club Two Step,
  • Cha-Cha,
  • Waltz,
  • Two-Step,
  • East Coast Swing,
  • West Coast Swing,
  • Three Step aka as the Two-Step or “Texas Two Step”
  • and Shuffle/Progressive Double Two.

See ya on the dance floor!

Week One on Jenny Craig – NOT! – Let’s Dance Instead!

Yin Yang (CC)It is important to not plan too much…

Yet, it is important to plan ahead…

Ah, grasshopper, in life, “balance” is the answer
and leads to wisdom.

(That “grasshopper” reference dates me… LOL)

Week One on Jenny Craig

…ain’t gonna happen THIS week!

Louisiana Country Dance HayrideYes, I know, I know, but my time this week has been spent practicing in the studio, taking lessons in the studio, and performing my “Line Dance Coordinator” duties for the Louisiana Country Dance Hayride.  I’m having a blast and the work isn’t all that difficult, but it is time consuming. Lots of emails flying about as I’ve first set up the schedule then more as I’ve publicized the workshops I’ve set up.

And, the event is this weekend, starting on Friday which means that Friday I’ll be driving for 5-6 hours, starting out at an UNNATURAL hour of the morning,  then spend the rest of the day in non-stop work, uhmmm, fun!  Well work that is fun.  Check out the Workshop Schedule.

Then all day on Saturday will be non-stop activities.  Then Sunday will be half a day of fun activities disguised as work followed by a six hour drive home.  Woo Hoo.

Oh, did I mention the EXCELLENT Cajun food at this event?  I didn’t?  My bad.  😉  Don’t tell Jenny.  It will be our secret.  Jenny doesn’t need to know!

So…  friends, neighbors, and the 12 people that are actually reading this blog entry, starting week one of Jenny Craig just ain’t gonna happen.  Not this week.

Countdown Check-list to start Week One on Jenny Craig:

  1. Clean out the pantry of all “bad” “not allowed on the menu” foods.  That means anything like a half eaten bag of Oreos has to go!
