Another New Page on my Blog: I’ve turned “Pro”
Well, it had to happen sometime. I am officially a “Professional Line Dance Instructor” 🙂
I guess this means that I’m in it for the money! LOL
And I’m sure that I’ll be rolling in the dough like Scrooge McDuck within days. Right? Oh how nice it will be to be part of the 1% 😉 Yeah, right and if you believe that, let’s talk real estate. I have a lovely bridge for sale.
But I digress… I do that don’t I? Check out my new “Line Dance Instructor” page on my blog. You’ll find a list of the line dance services I offer along with the rates. And don’t let the hat fool you, yes, I can and do teach non-country line dances. You’ll also find a little bit of background on my experience and how I got into dancing. If anyone spots any typos feel free to let me know.
My blog also has an Event Calendar showing which events I’ll be teaching line dance workshops at this year. A *HUGE* thank you to the event directors who have put me on their line dance staff. *hugs*

I Added an “Event Schedule” to my Blog

I added a new section to my blog, which is quickly turning into a full-fledged website!
You can find links to the Schedule Page:
— in the menu up above under “Home,”
— in the menu under “Dance”
— or as a link in the text area at the top of the right hand column of the blog.
OR you can just click on this link:

See ya on the dance floor!
Sometimes you just know…you’re getting better…
Numbers? I don’t need no stinkin’ numbers! Well, sometimes you don’t. Sure, measuring yourself with a tape measure or weighing yourself regularly is a good way to track your progress but they are a means to the end, or rather, they are validation of the means.
Or, perhaps, one could view those measurements as the chronicle of a tale told.
But… the story itself plays out whether or not we record it.
Last week I spent a lot of time in front of my computer dealing with being unemployed. This week there was less of that “desk stuff” and a lot more dancing in the studio. Neither last week nor this week have I really been all that concerned about “keeping track” of my fitness levels-NOT a high priority! This week so far I’ve….
- Sunday — 2 hour couples practice
- Monday — 2 hour couples practice
- Tuesday — An hour private lesson with my coach followed by Line dance practice followed by 30 minutes of couples practice followed by an hour couples lesson followed by another hour of couples practice
- Wed — an hour and a half of couples practice followed by an hour and a half of line dance practice
Which brings me to now. OMG!!! Gurl let me tell ya…
I lost my job…and turned into a bear…kinda, sorta
I am now a statistic: I’m Unemployed.
Eleven days ago, I lost my job. And being unemployed affects everything including one’s health. Those eleven days have been a flurry of activity doing all the things that one does when one looses their job:
- Applied for unemployment benefits — I don’t know yet whether I’ll get them. When I log onto the Texas Workforce Commission’s website the status still says “TWC is reviewing your claim to determine if we can pay you benefits. If we need additional information, we will contact you.” *sigh*
..
Not knowing whether or not I’ll get any unemployment benefit checks, I assumed “worst case scenario” — that I won’t and started making plans:
..
- Pre-paid as many bills as possible. — There are certain things that I’ll have to have if the worst happens I’m going to be out of work for a while: medications, rent on storage unit, cell phone, internet connection, car insurance...

Seismic Event Recorded in North Texas…
… the tremor was felt throughout the blog-o-sphere. One injury reported.
One good thing which blogging about my efforts to get into shape does is that it caters to my inner actor/performer. As I move step by step forward on my journey toward fitness. I get to share my successes and revel in the thunderous applause [cue canned applause soundtrack] 😉
The bad part about blogging and sharing my experiences with the whole world, is that when I mess up, well, the whole world knows. Or at least the dozen or so people who are actually reading this blog knows when I fall from grace.
Yes, it is true. I fell off the fitness wagon. The large bang heard throughout the North Texas area and ensuing earth tremor was not the cannons announcing the opening of the Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, it was me. Hitting the ground. T-H-U-D! Falling from grace. Hitting the gutter. Succumbing to temptation. Crossing over the dark side. I transgressed. I frolicked with chocolate! I was a baaaaaaaaaddd cowboy. *sigh*
