Confessions, Bragging, and Losing Ten Pounds Without Trying

Confessions…

Good Me-Bad Me ©2011Forgive me dear readers for I have sinned.

I have been partaking of the chips (well, not whole bags full, I’ve eaten them as part of lunch with a sandwich)…

… and of the Chocolate Pecan Pie (though only a slice at a time)…

… and of the Jack in the Box (though I have been getting the Chicken Fajita Pita, the healthiest thing on their menu).

Yea though I seek to walk through the valley of the Non-Fat, I have partaken of the Half-n-Half (though only a little bit in each cup of coffee, not a third of the container at a time or anything like that!)…

… and the real cheese, both the sharp cheddar and the Swiss (though only a single slice on each sandwich).

I have strayed into the land of the Sonic (though I got the breakfast burrito with no bacon and two bananas)…

… and, I hang my head in shame dear breaheren and sistertheren,  “S-H-A-M-E! ” I say unto you!  For I have…

I hadn’t planned on spending my vacation working…

TxCowboyDancer Designs Logo with shadow ©2012…but that is exactly what has happened for the past three and a half days.  I’ve been learning CSS and refreshing my rusty HTML skills, setting up my new CafePress Store:

Check out the cool logo to the right…
I did good!  I likes it!  I likes it!
And I did it all by myself!

I’ve been toying with the idea of opening an online shop selling t-shirts, mugs, buttons, etc., for ages.  But I’ve never gotten around to doing it.  I’ve got literally hundreds of quotes, quips, and design ideas jotted down on paper.

Most of the designs are dance related.  Surprise!  LOL!

Oh, and the other designs are LOL related.  As in LOL Cats.  You may have noticed that I’ve created a few LOL Cats for my blog, using them to illustrate whatever the topic at hand may be.  I’m putting the best of those into the store first, since they represent already created artwork.

Driveshaft Drama: The Final Chapter–I’m a Papa!

Dude I gotta pee! ©2011It’s a boy!

Or a girl.

Ok, ok, it’s a TRUCK!

I know that ships are always “she” unless you’re Russian then ships are “he.”  But trucks can be a he or a she and I haven’t driven it long enough to figure out it’s personality or it’s gender.  But when I do, then I’ll have to pick out a name for it.  (Note added Dec 24th — I named it “Tonks”)

Regardless, it’s MINE!  All Mine!  (so are the payments, but we won’t ruin the moment by talking about those!)   I likes it though! I really really really REALLY likes it.  And, just so we keep this whole “he’s having truck problems” related somehow to “fitness and health”,  here’s the connection:..

New Pillows! New Pillows! New Pillows!

Sheraton PillowsYes, I’m a little excited. 🙂  It’s the little things I tell ya!  And it means I can cross an item off my “Check List!

I’ve been watching the little tracking widget on the FedEx website and I knew that my pillows would be waiting for me at the UPS Store.  I have a PO Box at the one close to my house because my neighborhood, while not a slum, is not the place you want boxes sitting outside your door.  Better to have the delivered to a place where they are more secure.  🙂

So…  My pillows!!  Woo Hoo.   I stopped off at the UPS Store on the way home and picked them up. The guy at the counter brought me this box and I was a bit concerned for a moment, because to fit in the box they must be squished a bit.   But then I noticed the top of the box bulging a bit.  And since bulges are a good thing, I set aside my fears of pillow squishyness.

I had gotten these pillows before (12 months ago) and I loved them.  Funny how as something slowly changes, you don’t notice it?  Well OMG!!!! When I put the old pillows next to the new ones….  “Houston we have a problem!”  OMG!  I briefly, very briefly considered taking a photo of the old pillows next to the new ones and posting it here, but nope, not gonna do it.  Let’s just say that the old pillows are past their prime and they have to go!

So tonite, tonight, tooooooooooniiiiiighhhhtttt (insert image of me singing like a broadway diva) I’m going to have a better night’s sleep with my new pillows.

See ya on the dance floor!

Getting Healthy is complicated and it takes time… …lots of time!

Stressed out man pulling hair (CC)Ever wish that you could just have three months off from your life to get your life organized?

Yep, I thought that might resonate.  🙂  Loosing weight is complicated because life is complicated.  Life throws curve balls.  And when you are trying to do something as fundamental as “get healthy”  it means that every part of your life is either affected by the effort or affects the effort.  In other words your whole life changes, not just a tiny bit of it.

Using myself as a case study of one in time management…

Stay with me here, you’re about to follow a chain of thought and interconnections and since this basically is inviting you inside “Tony’s Head” the experience could be frightening.  😉

Step one..the starting point.  THE GOAL <drumroll please> is to be fit and healthy.  For me, that means loosing weight, becoming more flexible, increasing my cardiovascular capacity, increasing muscle mass.

However, this immediately connects with and to some degree conflicts with other top level goals.    I dance.  I love to dance.  I enjoy competing in dance.  To dance requires that I have some disposable income for lessons, practice fees, travel expenses to attend competitions, more cash to pay for my pro’s travel expenses to attend the competitions to dance with me, costumes, and dance shoes.

Which means I need a job.  Or a sugar daddy.  (The sugar daddy position currently is vacant…applications now being accepted.  I think I could easily get used to being a kept man.

Ok, so I need a job not only to pay for my dance habit but to pay other things like food, Read the rest of this entry
